Unknown Spain – Travel Photo Book

large format camera photography

Welcome to the Travel Photos of Kurt Hielscher from his first book, Unknown Spain. The photos were shot between 1914 and 1919 using an Ideal 9×12 large format camera from ICA Dresden with a Zeiss Tessar lens.

They were taken by German teacher Kurt Hielscher while he was holidaying in Spain and was forced to stay there due to the outbreak of World War I. Check this Photographer page to find out how the very first Travel Photo Book came into being, and check out the FAQ page on how to use this photo map and search engine.
